Zula Bar Long Street. Mondays

Zula’s is the longerst running comedy night we have the Cape.

Run by a collective of the newer acts in cape town… COME has seen Monday nights rock at Zula’s for ages.

Monday nights on Long street are on the whole not the most lively of affairs. But its rare to walk into Zula’s and find nothing but a packed out audience of trendy locals and interested tourists and one of the best gigs around.

COME has been operating every Monday night on Long street for well over a year and a half now. Pretty much every act in the county that has been in town has played at Zula’s and the audience here are appreciative and comedy savvy.

With the diverse makeup of audience, it always allows acts a little extra room to do new and exciting material to an audience that enjoys and appreciated their comedy. The stage is large and used for music acts the rest of the week. So the space is pretty good. The lighting and sound are all well and truly good enough for the venue. Line of sight is not too bad, but the stage does unfortunately have a support pole on it….which can slightly affect your view of the stage.

Drinks are cheap, food is available…but since its long street, you can make your way up and down and entertain yourself. Personally I am not a big fan of the food. But the beers are cold, the comedy plentyifull and the cost is next to nowt. R30 see’s you in for some of the best acts in town. Check to see what the line up is, and if any touring comics are popping in for a guest spot.

Definitely one of the best Monday nights out in Cape Town.
Zula’s draws a mixed crowd. Young and older alike and after the show, the dj’s will be dropping some tunes till the wee hours. I like this place.
