South Africa’s favourite stand-up comedians are set to crack up audiences countrywide in May, when the KIT KAT LIVE Comedy series takes place in the major centres. The show, sponsored by KIT KAT, plays three dates each in.

Johannesburg: NuMetro, Montecasino, 6-8 May,
Cape Town: NuMetro, Canal Walk, 13-15 May and
Durban NuMetro, The Pavilion, 20-22 May.

The Johannesburg line-up is:

Darren “Whackhead” Simpson, the comedian and radio and television personality best known for his morning radio pranks on 94.7 Highveld Stereo’s Rude Awakening show, and for co-presenting the M-Net comedy prank show Laugh Out Loud and presenting the M-Net show Clipz.

Ndumiso Lindi, who hails from the Eastern Cape and has tickled ribs from Cape Town to London. His material is based on everyday life, the things that surround us, how we differ as people and how unique black people can be, especially the new generation.

The headline acts are Joey Rasdien and Trevor Noah, two of South Africa’s best-known and loved young comics. Rasdien is one of South Africa’s most versatile comedic performers, and is a favourite on stage, television, in advertising and in movies. He recently added music to his repertoire, with the hit Make the Circle Bigger. Noah has quickly established himself as one of South Africa’s most popular stand-up comedians. His attributes as a comedian – sharp wit, intelligent commentary, unmistakable charm and clinical delivery – have made him an audience favourite everywhere.

The Cape Town line-up is:

Dave Levinsohn, who says he was born in Springs but that he’s OK now, is well-known for his off-the-wall re-examination of everyday topics, as well as his ability to improvise when interacting with the crowd. He has a knack for finding the right tone and pitches his humour at a level that everyone can appreciate, without being offensive.

Paul Snodgrass, whose high-energy performances have had audiences all over South Africa rolling in the aisles, and who counts among his achievements a rave performance at the Edinburgh Arts Festival.

Colin Moss, the much-loved actor, reality TV show presenter and comedian. Moss started his career as a stand-up comic, in order to make money for toothpaste, beer and petrol.?Comedy is a lifelong passion and he regularly works the comedy circuit – both locally, and in the UK and Ireland.

Trevor Noah, who will headline the show.

The Durban line-up is:

Neville Pillay, aka Top Dan, a familiar name on the Durban comedy circuit, having performed to a wide audience base over the years. Pillay is known for his wise-cracking and humorous take on being Indian in Durban, indeed South Africa, and his twisted tunes, song parodies made famous on his radio show.

Darren Maule, the well-known actor, TV game-show host and comedian who has established himself as a firm favourite on the comedy circuit. Maule is most recently known for the man-you-love-to-hate part he plays in the celebrity Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina.
Maule is also the MC for the entire Have a Break Comedy Road show series.

Krijay Govender, the multi-talented stage and TV actress, beauty queen, journalist, radio personality and comedienne, who headlines the show (and shares the top spot with Trevor Noah on the last night of the Durban leg.)

“We have a great line-up of comics at all the venues, and audiences are in for a festival of side-splitting, thigh-slapping laughs,” says KIT KAT brand manager Gregory Tabane. “We all deserve a break – be it from family, work, the economy or even our country’s political shenanigans – and the KIT KAT LIVE comedy series is just the ticket.”
